For 23 years, Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels (HHOW) has partnered with hundreds of Hyundai dealerships across the country to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and to build awareness for the disease. We’re proud of the efforts they’ve made — for every Hyundai sold, a donation is given, which means that if you purchase a new Hyundai from a participating dealer (like us!), you’re participating in a noble cause. Every car counts!
Hyundai and their partners have donated $172 million (and counting) since Hope on Wheels began in 1998, plus, more than 1,000 major grants (ranging from $50,000-$1 million dollars) have been awarded to fund research and improve the standard of care for childhood cancers. In 2020 alone, Hyundai achieved their target goal of $16 million in the form of research grants to researchers at eligible Children’s Oncology Group member institutions. Hyundai’s mission? Find a cure for childhood cancer one handprint at a time.
Every year, HHOW visits children’s hospitals to donate funds, and during their visit, the “Handprint Ceremony” is a special time for children to dip their hands in paint and place them on a sheet. The handprints are collected and placed on Hyundai vehicles that will travel across the country as a rainbow of awareness for the program. These handprints represent kids who survived, kids who are fighting and kids whose memories live on.
